Week of Actions & Next Meeting

There’s a busy week coming up of work for the OC Transit Riders’ Union as we fight to get an accessible transit system in Ottawa. We are still facing constant fare hikes, service cuts, and unchallenged racist, sexist and abilist harassment on buses. This must stop.

#1: ACTION ITEM

We need people this week for an action at major transit stations. From Tues June 22 – Thurs June 24 we will be on the ground promoting the Union and talking with riders. This will take place in the evenings (starting 6-8pm).

#2: NEXT MEET

Friday June 25, 5-7pm in the St. Laurent area (by routes #5 and #7).

We are currently not releasing new information to the media or are available for comments and interviews. We appreciate the publicity we received from CFRA.

We also ask that political candidates do not inquire to attend our meetings. The OC TRU is currently non-partisan.

Transit Riders’ Union meet #2 callout

The second formal OC Transit Riders’ Union meet will be held on Tuesday, June 8th from 5-7pm in the Centretown-Chinatown-Little Italy area. This meet will build up activities amongst new membership, update the membership on where we are, and continue brainstorming.

There will be time to air transit greviances and develop action plans for taking on those greviances.

We will be rolling these meetings weekly on different weekdays in different locations around the City. Last week we held it on Monday in Vanier, next week will be on Wednesday at another location.
